Nodocephalosaurus war ein Pflanzenfresser aus der Familie der AnkylosaurierDer Holotypus mit der Bezeichnung SMP VP-900, wurde aus einer Tonsteinschicht der De-na-zin-Ablagerung der Kirtland Formation ausgegraben und stammt aus dem späten Campanium, also vor etwa 73 Millionen Jahren. Er besteht aus einem Schädel ohne Unterkiefer. Aufgrund der Verwitterung sind nur wenige Details erkennbar.

Im Jahr 2006 beschrieben Robert M. Sullivan und Denver W. Fowler weiteres fossiles Material wie Knochenplatten (Osteodermen) und einige Wirbelknochen. Am Hinterkopf des Nodocephalosaurus befanden zwei kleine Knochenhörner und die Schädeloberseite war mit kleinen, rundlichen Knochenplatten versehen. Ob Nodocephalosaurus wie einige andere Ankylosaurier am Schwanzende eine Knochenkeule besaß, ist aufgrund der spärlichen Funde nicht bekannt.
